Pet Parents treat their fur-babies with utmost care and affection. Many of them ask several questions regarding their cat’s health and well-being. Here are some FAQs from our customers that include questions regarding their feline’s health and issues related to it.

FAQs Related to Cat Health Issues:

1. Why did my cat stop eating?

Generally, a cat’s loss of appetite can be a sign of illness or discomfort. Observe your cat for one day, and if they still do not eat, you should consult your vet immediately.

2. I can't give my cat's due treatment. What are my options?

The simplest way to give your cat their monthly treatment is by mixing them with some canned food or using pill pockets or treats. Try taking another form of treatment from the vet.

3. Why is my cat vomiting or having diarrhea?

Vomiting and Diarrhea are most commonly caused by sudden changes in food or by worm/ parasite infestation. If the symptoms last for more than 24 hours, it is recommended to take your cat to the vet.

4. What vaccines does my cat need?

As recommended by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), cats should have taken the following vaccines- Rabies Virus vaccine, Feline panleukopenia viral vaccine, Feline viral rhinotracheitis, and Feline caliciviruses.

5. Why is my cat losing hair?

Cats lose a small amount of hair on a regular basis. It is still recommended to take your cat for a health check up. Sometimes, hair fall is a result of food allergies, parasite infestation, fungal infection, or other skin diseases. Consult your vet if the amount of hair fall is abnormal.

6. My cat has a lump, what should I do?

A lump on your cat’s body needs to be examined by your vet immediately. It can be a result of some allergy, infection, growth or tumor. To be certain of the severity of the lump, tests and examinations should be done.

Your cat probably has a bacterial or viral infection. You should get them examined as early as possible to determine the cause and treatment.

9. My cat has bad breath and needs dental cleaning, but I prefer not to put him/her under anesthesia. Why don’t you do anesthesia-free dental cleaning?

Anesthesia-free oral cleaning is a cosmetic procedure and its benefits won’t last long. Your cat’s oral problems can neither be examined nor be treated without anesthesia. Veterinarians generally use pet-safe products that help to treat your pet’s dental problems efficiently.

10. How do I know if my cat needs dentistry?

Check your pet’s mouth for bad breath, yellow or brown teeth, plaque formations or red and swollen gums. If you find anything unusual, your cat requires dentistry.

End Note

It is important to observe the signs and symptoms of common health-related issues so that you can immediately act upon the treatment of your fur babies. Changes in a cat's energy level, friendliness, coat quality and/or quantity of shedding, appetite, litter box use, or discharges from the nose or eyes are typical symptoms of illness. Generally speaking, any abrupt change should let you know that your cat requires medical attention.
